During the past decades, environmental issues as well as energy supply were paid more attention to by countries throughout the world. Thereafter, natural gas was also increasingly introduced as an appropriate alternative to traditional fuels to be used in diesel and gasoline vehicles. According to the statistics given by the website of International Association for Natural Gas Vehicles (IANGV), there are currently about 10 million natural gas vehicles traveling in the world, showing that the use of natural gas in transportation sector has globally increased. At present, Iran by investing more than US$3 billion in order to substitute natural gas for gasoline as transportation fuel, is considered as one of the pioneering countries in the field of natural gas vehicles, in such a way that, in Iran, an average of more than 6.3 mcm/day of natural gas is consumed by vehicles. Holding the two former national conferences & exhibitions on CNG and related industries successively in 2008 and 2009, the peerless interest of the people involved in CNG industry within domestic state and private companies and organizations, favorable contribution of some of foreign companies and helpful cooperation of Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association (ANGVA) as well as International Association for Natural Gas Vehicles (IANGV) through their official endorsement of these conferences, further highlighted the necessity of holding the 3rd conference at international level. As a result, it was agreed that "The 3rd international conference on CNG and Related Industries" (IRAN NGV 2010) would be held in Iran in the summer of 2010, by Hamayesh Sanat Institute as the Iranian permanent secretariat of CNG, National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Co. (NIORDC) as the key agent for developing CNG industries in Iran, ANGVA and IANGV who have officially endorsed the 2010 event as well. We hope that this conference and exhibition would provide domestic companies with the knowledge of international markets and lead foreign manufacturers and investors to enter Iran’s CNG market.
