Glibenclamide is an anti diabetic drug in a class of medications known as sulfonyl urea.
Glibenclamide is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. As of 2011 it is one of only two oral anti-diabetics in the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines.
It was the most popular sulfonylurea in the United States of America.
