Abundance of gas & oil in Persian Gulf with its main reserves in South Pars area has caused the management to earmark the area for a number of petrochemical complexes.
One of the first such projects in Assaluyeh area was 9th Olefin Project. The project has special importance as it uses Ethane Gas as feedstock instead of liquid feed and as such, it added value is more significant.
A strategic program was drawn and was decided to hand over the projects to third party groups and institutions as far as possible.

Therefore, with the aim to find a partner to establish a joint venture Pars Petrochemical Company was awarded the project.
The plant is constructed on 72 hectare of land by the Persian Gulf 270km. southeast of port of Bushehr and 270km west of Bandar Abbas in the western corner of Petrochemical Phase One area next to export facilities of PSEEZ.
The project is vested with the followings:
Production of Ethylene through construction & commissioning of C2 Cracker unit
Production of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
Production of Medium & High Density Polyethylene (MD & HDPE)
