The oil sector, gas and petro-chemistry, is considered as the first and most outstanding relative advantage of the country and the leaning point of the Iranian economy. Considering the importance of this sector and the necessity of ever more coordination and organization of sectors active in the domain of production and exportation of oil products, gas and petrochemistry, several entrepreneurs and thinkers of the private sector of the country decided to gather in order to employ and exploit their ability and mass wisdom through integral dealing with opportunities and threats. For this purpose, in September 2003, the Union of Exporters of Iran Oil Products was established in presence of 54 companies producing and exporting the product and then in June 2005, on suggestion by board of directors and upon approval of extraordinary general assembly it changed the name to Union of exporters of oil products, gas and petrochemistry in order to avail itself both of the type of activity and the title of the union to have a more comprehensive coverage than in the past. It is noteworthy that the union, has membership of over 150 active companies in this sector.

Moreover, union of exporters of oil, gas and petrochemical products of Iran is honored to be chosen in 2006 and on the verge of beginning of the 4th year of its activity as the exemplary national exports organization.

Some of the goals and duties of the union are as follow:

1) Attempt to organize the export and re-export of oil products from Islamic republic of Iran and to improve the servicing quality to members

2) To collect data concerning supply and demand and price and consumption markets and to produce the said products and put them within access of users in order to promote knowledge of members

3) To exploit the new procedures and ways to increase the share in various markets and to promote the export activities of products.

4) To Cooperate with concerned , respective authorities of Islamic republic of Iran through presenting specialized views in preparing , arranging and changing laws and regulations and respective circulars linked with oil products and their exports

5) To create connection with banks and credit organizations of the country and also with international financial, monetary organizations in order to pave the way to prepare services and financial, credit facilities for members

6) To create links with state authorities and organizations and also unions and non-state organizations and also with competent real, legal persons in order to remove the problems and settle the disputes and to create facilities in all sectors connected with export of oil products including transportation, customs affairs , storage keeping and reservoirs, packaging, quality, standard control, supply of primary material, transit and swap etc.

7) To create and set up educational, research units , to hold exhibitions and specialized , commercial gatherings inside and outside the country and also coordination concerning dispatch of commercial delegations to other countries and to invite business delegations of target countries and participate in foreign gatherings linked with the activity of the union.

8) To provide transparent and regular information to inside and outside of the union through web site of the union, to publish publications and other export opportunities and other requisite cases including publicity , marketing in target markets.

9) To prevent from unsound competitions of members in target markets through imposing disciplinary committee regulations of Iran chamber

10) To create the necessary background for development of cooperation among members

11) To form and incorporate export clusters among members

12) To interact and receive special export facilities from trade development organization regarding the trend of progress of union goals and to assist the members

13) To interact and receive facilities special for exports from trade development organization regarding trend of progress of union goals and helping members
