Iran ranks second in the world from the view point of natural gas reserves. One of the main objectives of oil and gas industries is production and development of these reserves by Iranian experts and applying modern technologies .The ministry of petroleum for production and protection of oil and gas fields of the country has planned national projects. The projects are to be implemented by Iranian expert staffs and companies. Established in 1995, Iranian central oil fields company (ICOFC) provides one of the five main productive companies of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) in its new structure. The company is in charge of macro-production of natural gas and oil from onshore fields except NISOC fields.

Currently, the company has expanded its executive activities in 59 proven oil and gas fields.
